Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Zodian handles information when you use the Zodian iOS app or visit zodianapp.com.

Information you provide

In the app, you may provide your name, date of birth, optional birth time, birthplace, time zone, profile photo, and notification choices. You may also save names, birth details, and photos for people you add in Read Someone.

On the website, you may submit an email address to request access. If you email Zodian or send Daily Lens feedback in the app, we receive the content you choose to send.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your profile, calculated Western and Chinese signs, combined identity, saved people, photos, reading history and cache state, notification preferences, and app identifiers on your device. The current iOS app stores profile and saved-person photos locally and does not upload them as part of these features.

Saved people are private to your device. They are not public profiles or a social network.

Accounts and Sign in with Apple

When you start using the app, Zodian creates an anonymous account through Supabase. The app associates that account with an account ID and locally generated installation and device-registration identifiers, and keeps its session on your device.

You may choose to link Sign in with Apple to that existing Zodian account. Apple handles that authentication, and the app sends an Apple identity token to Supabase for the link. Apple linking is not a public profile and does not provide a public social identity inside Zodian.

Daily Lens

To retrieve a Daily Lens, the app sends the requested date and derived Western and Chinese signs to Zodian's Supabase service, along with limited app-environment context. This request does not send your raw name, birth date, birth time, birthplace, or photo for this purpose.

If you request a Daily Lens for a saved person, the app may use that person's derived sign pair in the same way. Daily Lens cache and saved-reading state remain on your device.

Birthplace search and photos

Birthplace search happens when you choose to search for a place. Your search query may be sent to Apple's MapKit service. The app does not use continuous device-location collection for this feature.

The app asks for photo-library or camera permission only when you choose to add a profile or saved-person photo. You can decline or change those permissions in iOS Settings.

Daily Lens feedback

If you send feedback about a Daily Lens, the app sends your feedback selection and any reason you provide, together with reading context such as the date, sign pair, lens version, app version and build, account ID, and installation ID. This is sent to Supabase so Zodian can understand and improve the reading experience.

Notifications

Zodian schedules reminders locally on your device when you allow notifications. The current app source does not register a remote-push token for this feature. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and change Zodian's reminder choices in the app.

Website and app analytics

The website uses Formspree to process access-email submissions and Vercel Analytics for site-visit and performance analytics. The website access form includes your email address and a source label showing which site form you used.

The iOS app may use PostHog for product analytics and feature flags only when it is enabled in that release's configuration. When enabled, it may process product-interaction events and a Zodian account identifier. The app source disables automatic capture and session replay and filters sensitive values such as birth details, email, tokens, installation and device identifiers, and Daily Lens text from analytics events.

Service providers

Supabase processes Zodian account, Daily Lens, and feedback requests. Apple processes Sign in with Apple and MapKit place-search requests. Formspree processes website access-email submissions, Vercel Analytics provides website analytics, and your email provider processes support emails you send. PostHog may process app analytics when it is enabled for a release. Each provider's own privacy and retention terms may apply to information it processes.

Retention

Device-local information remains on your device until it is removed through the app or otherwise cleared from the device. Zodian and its providers may retain account, feedback, and website-submission information as needed to provide the service or respond to you. Provider-specific retention may also apply.

Account deletion

If the in-app account-deletion service is available and a deletion request completes successfully, Zodian deletes the account associated with the current app session and clears the Zodian data stored locally on that device. You start it in Profile > Account > Delete account. If you linked Sign in with Apple, you may also need to revoke Zodian in your Apple account settings because the current flow does not automatically revoke Apple tokens. If the action is not available in your version, contact Zodian for help.

Your choices

• You can choose whether to provide profile details, add saved people, link Apple, allow photos, or allow notifications.
• You can change photo and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can contact Zodian about this policy or information you have provided.

Children

Zodian is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Zodian, please contact us so we can review the situation.

Security

Zodian uses reasonable measures intended to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Zodian's practices change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the effective date.
